SATURDAY SEMINARS
Saturday Seminars are designed to strengthen your math knowledge and to Talk Teaching Moves as we debrief lessons.
Experience the Standards of Mathematical Practice as you work in random groups and collaborate with peers at vertical whiteboard stations, following the practices of Building Thinking Classrooms. Reflect as a teacher about student autonomy, identity, and discourse.
A week before each Saturday we will send out a "math appetizer" to be done ahead of time and prepare you for the day's activities.

First, a teaser for the actual event... How can mathematics help us learn more about each other’s lives--providing a window into someone else’s world and a mirror into your own world? Register to see how we answer this question!
For our appetizer, we will take a small peek into this theory of how math can tell a story. Check out this slide deck or an abbreviated version. Registered teachers will be provided with an expanded slide deck.

Our Math Appetizer was about a dancing square. That's right, a dancing square, not a square dance!
Curious? Check out this video and slide deck from Deb Stetson explaining the problem.
Registered teachers will be provided with an expanded slide deck a week before the seminar.
